OBJECTIVES | ||||||||||||
The degree in Sport, Fitness and Health aims to provide the graduate with solid training in the physical exercise area aimed at promoting health in apparently healthy populations or with certain special or medical conditions. The aim is to give students skills to act with competence and commitment in fitness and health areas in different organizations/ entities. |

ACHIEVEMENT PROFILE | ||||||||||||
This degree develops knowledge, skills and competences that allow students to: » know the epistemological assumptions of sport, fitness and its impact on human health and well-being; » plan, prescribe and apply fitness programmes, individualized or in groups, suitable for apparently healthy populations or with different medical conditions (e.g. obesity, hypertension, diabetes); » carry out assessments of physical and physiological parameters related to physical exercise and health and know how to interpret them correctly; » coordinate and develop technical and quality management activities for gyms, health clubs and other similar entities; » plan and conduct physical activity programmes and programmes to promote the health and physical well-being of populations, as well as public health surveillance, adapting them to different communities and implementation contexts (e.g. community programmes with different types of people); » develop skills that allow lifelong learning in the physical activity, fitness and health areas. |

» Fitness centres and sports associations, namely gyms, fitness studios, crosstraining boxes and personalized training companies; » Swimming pools; » City councils; » Companies: in the promotion and implementation of programmes for physical activity and combating sedentary lifestyles; » Public or private entities (health clinics): monitoring physical activity programmes aimed at populations with certain special or medical conditions; » Companies engaged in nature exploration activities; » In the programmes of curricular activities (AEC) - Physical and Sport Activity of the 1st cycle of Basic Education (Decree Law No 14460/2008). |
